Meet the team

Hi, my name is Angus Williams. I’ve been landscaping for over 25 years and have 10 years of experience in concrete work and various other jobs. Landscaping isn't always easy, especially with unpredictable weather, but I love what I do. I enjoy working with my hands and seeing the smiles on my customers' faces when they see what I’ve built.
I know the struggles of not getting paid what you’re worth and doing unsafe tasks like working in 9-foot-deep holes with no barriers. I've worked long hours with little to no pay and often received little respect. But despite these challenges, I’ve always loved this work.
I’m thrilled about this alliance, which is a testament to the power of unity. This alliance, which aims to improve the workplace for landscapers and construction workers, is a platform for us to help each other grow, share our knowledge, and enjoy our work. We've all faced challenges, but we can make our voices heard together.
Heather is a nature enthusiast and volunteer with Landscapers alliance.
I am originally from Ontario, but my foraging instincts brought me to the mountains and urban nature of B.C.
My journey started in Clearwater, B.C as a tree planter. After 4 seasons I enrolled in a Horticultural course and obtained a certificate. I had found my passion! Now after 25 years of landscape maintenance I have decided to retire and look forward to meeting with some of you in the future as we work together to build a sustainable future for landscape tradespeople.
Keith loves dog Leeloo and being active in nature, but his passion is fighting injustice in society. Being a natural-born activist, he has been involved with the progressive movement for 20 years and has been active in various actions to improve the standard of living of everyday working people.
Over the years, Keith has been involved with worker lead organizations such as The Retail Action Network, the Worker Solidarity Network and was a founding member of the Whistler Workers Alliance. Keith also was the BC NDP candidate during the 2020 provincial election for the riding of West Vancouver – Sea to Sky.
“I’m excited to help Hort workers discover the power of their collective action. Companies have employer associations like the BCLNA to fight for their interest, but workers have nothing. I’m hoping this Network will be the first step the levelling the playing field. Let’s grow our power together!”
Jes is a founding member of the BC Landscapers’ Alliance.
Growing plants and being in nature has always been something Jes has loved, which led her to the Landscaping industry in 2019. In 2020, Jes moved to BC and got a job with Para Space, as a landscaping maintenance supervisor. Jes is a Red Seal Landscaper Horticulturalist.
“One thing I noticed was a real lack of recognition of our industry as a true trade, even within the trade itself. I feel that as tradespeople, we deserve to be treated as equals to other trades. This is one reason I wanted to get the BCLA up and running. I believe that together we will help guide our industry into a future where we are recognized for the education, passion and ability we all have for this amazing career.”
Before working in landscaping, Jes worked in customer service, where she felt unfulfilled. So when an opportunity arrived to change careers, she jumped on it. “Needless to say, I fell in love with my new career and found my passion!”
